We have been able to further the community's knowledge of doulas and supported birth by working together as a Collective while still maintaining our separate practices. Please join us! When you do, you can expect a postcard letting you know we received your membership form and check. Please note it can take about a month for your check to be deposited. (Sometimes longer, depending on how busy our volunteers are! Don't wait for your check to clear to become active!)

How to Get Involved in the Meantime:

- You can join the doulaethics listserv by going to DoulaEthics and clicking join. This is a great place for more in-depth discussions not directly related to Childbirth Collective Business.

- Come early to a Parent Topic Night (PTN), introduce yourself to other doulas, and get involved! Active members are required to attend and support the PTNs by volunteering to open or present.

Things to Watch For:

- An invitation via email to join the collectivemembers yahoo listserv. If you do not receive this email invite within the next month please contact Angie at angieposine@hotmail.com

- An invitation for new member orientation. In the meantime, please contact the new member coordinator Judith with any questions or concerns at jgnylander@comcast.net

- The newsletter is published three times per year, and as a member you will receive it in the mail. In the meantime, pick up a current copy at any Parent Topic Night.

We'd love to have you as a member! We ask that members interested in joining our community as active members ($30) commit to participating in 9 Childbirth Collective functions in a year as a minimum. That maintains your status as an active member and we list your name and phone number in our newsletter. You can choose one or two titles after your name that define the services you offer and you can write an online profile for our website for parents to get a deeper description of who you are and what you offer.

If you can't commit to 9 functions a year then you're better suited for associate membership ($12) which means you aren't listed in the newsletter or website but we send you our newsletter so you stay in touch with the group.

Both types of membership are invited into our Yahoo discussion group.

MW=Midwife
CE=Childbirth Educator
L=Lactation Consultant
PS=Psychologist, Psychotherapist etc.
MB=Massage, Bodywork, Yoga, Crainial Sacral, Chiro, etc.
O=Other, Birth tub rental, photography etc. Services that fit our mission while keeping the list tidy.

All memberships are from September through August; if you join mid-year, membership will be pro-rated through August and you can renew in September. Active members are professionals working in the birth community. Parents and others are welcome to join as associates or contributing members.
