I was a public school music teacher for nearly thirty years. I recently retired from my educational career and have pursued my other passion, that of assisting women during the birth process. I have two grown daughters and their births were the most positive and empowering experiences of my life. Years later I had the honor of helping a few friends and relatives also go through the birth process. It was during those experiences that my interest and passion grew for the sacredness of the event and I discovered that this was my calling upon reaching retirement.

I believe that birth is a natural, normal event that has the potential to be the most empowering and awesome experience of a woman's life. I believe that with information and education a woman can develop the faith and confidence in her ability to give birth. I can help with many different comfort measures and ways of dealing with the pain of childbirth so that a woman has numerous ideas to choose from. My job as a doula is that of a servant in the midst of a highly sacred event. I am a facilitator as well as a witness to a holy act. As such, my work is to be an instrument in creating the conditions that will permit the maximum appreciation of the life-giving process for the mother and her family in a safe and natural way.

I have a bachelor’s degree in music education and a master’s degree in educational leadership. Additionally, I pursued doula training and certification through DONA. It is my sincerest wish and desire to assist women, in a spirit of humble service, to experience the miracle of birth at its fullest potential.
