Karen Bruce, AAHCC, CD 612-825-6936 e-mail: birthmama@gmail.com website: http://www.birthmama.com location: Minneapolis, MN Serving Area: Twin Cities Metro Area Certifications and qualifications: AAHCC, CD-DONA I am a birth doula and childbirth educator serving the Twin Cities metro area. I have three children -- one born in the hospital and two born at home -- all born with the support of my family and a doula. I believe that women's bodies were exquisitely designed to give birth. With preparation, information and support, most women can have a natural birth if that's their desire. Your partner and doula can support you in many ways, encouraging relaxation to allow the natural process to happen. As a birth doula, I provide emotional and physical support to the birthing family. We will work together so that I can learn your hopes and dreams for your birth and understand how you would like me to support you. I have been attending births informally since 2004 and completed my formal DONA training and certification requirements in 2006. I am also an affiliated instructor of the Bradley Method(r) and have been teaching since 2005. I provide a 10-week series on Tuesday evenings in southwest Minneapolis. We cover healthy pregnancy topics, coaching, stage of labor, medications, interventions, natural pain-coping techniques, comfort measures & positioning, postpartum care, breastfeeding & newborns, etc. I provide every student with a copy of the Bradley Method(r) student workbook, a supplemental binder of research and birth information for your use during the series, and access to my lending library of pregnancy, labor, and birth books and videos. |
