I am the founder of Birthways, the oldest and largest doula group in Illinois and the mother of a wonderful daughter. I'm a board certified lactation consultant, a doula with over 13 years of experience, and a midwife with experience in home and birth center births. I train and mentor doula providers and am available for lecturing and workshops.

My work has focused on supporting women and their families through the exciting and transformative changes that the childbearing year brings. Birthways has specialized in working with women with perinatal mood disorders and I have presented at conferences and written a chapter of a book (Housecalls: Psychosocial Interventions in the Home) regarding how doulas can have a significant impact on families experiencing PPMDs. This emphasis on the emotional health and wellbeing of families carries over into my care of all parents as they navigate the changes that a new baby brings. I have a warm and caring style, and as a clinician encourage participatory problem solving. My goal is to help mothers and babies not only get off to a healthy start with a peaceful birth and successful breastfeeding, but with a foundation of confidence and trust in each other. As a lactation consultant, I am thorough in my research and problem solving/diagnosing as well as affirming and encouraging of the hardwired wisdom of breastfeeding.

I am offering my lactation services (in-home consultations for education, resolution of breastfeeding challenges, baby weighs, and more) and doula services and will be starting a childbirth class specifically for LBT families in the Spring of 08.
