Certifications and qualifications: DONA (doula, doula trainer)

My name is Marla and I live in Fridley with my husband, two youngest children, my elderly father and my dog. I have 7 children in all and one grandchild with another on the way. I have been a doula for 9 years and have been at over 550 births. I speak Spanish and worked for 3 years in the HCMC doula program with the Hispanic mothers.

I work with parents prenatally with an emphasis on "optimal fetal positioning", am on call 24/7 for the birth and follow up with postpartum care and breastfeeding assistance. My philosophy is "one step at a time". I have experience with VBAC, multiples, "high risk" pregnancies, homebirth, waterbirth, breech birth, and cesarean birth.

I also work in home birth midwifery, am a non-certified labor assistant, was a board member of the Childbirth Collective for 8 years and am a doula trainer.
