Certifications and qualifications: DONA

I am one of the "Grandmother Doulas" and actually got my start supporting parents through the pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum process when my oldest daughter gave birth to my three grandchildren. Because of the experience, she is one of my biggest supporters and encourages all parents to utilize the services of a doula during childbirth.

My philosophy is that this is the parent's birth and I am there to support you (emotionally and physically) during this process. I am committed to making your birth something that you will have positive feelings and memories about, in relationship to having a doula present.

I have been certified with DONA since 2003 and am a volunteer at Woodwinds Hospital with both their doula program and ER doula services. I also work with private clients in several hospitals throughout the twin cities area. I am one of the founding members of the St. Croix Valley Doulas where we continue to offer Parent Information Meetings monthly, as well as support each other as back-up doulas.

I have been trained in Healing Touch and Hypnobirthing and have been involved with all types of births (vaginal, C-sections, water births, vbacs) and parents have said that they appreciate my professionalism, sense of humor, supportive techniques, and knowledge about the birthing process. I am a photographer and can offer those services during and after the birth.
